Essex Theatre Company closes out the summer season with Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, an intimate and emotionally powerful musical about two New Yorkers who fall in and out of love over five years. Told with a twist — she narrates the relationship backward from its end, he tells it forward from the beginning, meeting only once, at their wedding, in the middle of the show. A modern classic with an unforgettable score.
