March 15 @ 12:00 pm
JOIN CHAMPLAIN AREA TRAILS IN A WORKING HIKE ON THE WILDWAY OVERLOOK TRAIL ON FRIDAY, MARCH 15TH AT 12 P.M.
This trail is just under a mile. The trail goes through forests and fields with views of the West Champlain Hills. It features an old rock quarry with a cliff overlooking a small pond. We will focus on moving hemlock planks from the trailhead from the trailhead to a wet area, where a boardwalk will be built in the spring. We will also tackle some invasives that are near the trail. If the ground is thawed enough, we will begin to address some drainage issues as well.
WHAT TO BRING: We will be working with loppers and hand saws, which Champlain Area Trails can provide. Feel free to bring your own tools as well. Make sure to come with appropriate footwear for the weather conditions, and bring gloves, water, and some snacks!
DIRECTIONS: Find the trailhead on the east side of Rt 22/9N, about 4.5 miles south of downtown Westport and 5.5 miles north of Port Henry. Click here for Google map directions.
REGISTRATION: Please register by 6:00 p.m. the day before the event by emailing tony@champlainareatrails.com, but it’s also okay to meet us there Friday at noon.
