SUMMARY:Shakespeare in the Courtyard - As You Like It
DESCRIPTION:JULY CONCERTS ON THE CENTER LAWN – It’s officially lawn concert time at the Elizabethtown Social Center and we have a wonderful line up of fantastic performances this July. Since 2015\, our FREE lawn concerts have been an annual tradition in Elizabethtown on Tuesdays in July. The concerts are a great way to enjoy a night out with the kids.  \nFriday\, July 24th – Shakespeare in the Courtyard “As You Like It” an Adirondack Regional Theatre Production puts on a fabulous show of love\, laughter and mistaken identities await in this Shakespeare comedy where the main character\, Rosalind disguises herself as a man and tests her suitor Orlando’s devotion. The Adirondack Regional Theater\, a beloved regional summer staple throughout the North Country\, is back at the Social Center by popular demand after last year’s enthusiastically received performance. There is no children’s performance\, the play will start at 6pm.  \nThink of us when you want to get out\, meet people and enjoy the arts without breaking the bank. It’s easy to forget how great it is to be part of a “village” – to see old friends and make new ones.  \nWe extend a HUGE thank you to the J.M. McDonald Foundation\, NYSCA\, Essex County Arts Council and the Town of Elizabethtown for their grants\, which make our lawn concerts possible!  \nOur concerts are held outside in our courtyard weather permitting. Please bring blankets & lawn chairs to enjoy. Enjoy an evening out with family and friends\, with special kid-friendly performances at 6 PM followed by music and entertainment for adults at 7 PM. \nTuesday\, July 14 \n6 PM – Comedy Magic Show with Alyx HilsheyGet ready for an unforgettable evening of laughter\, amazement\, and interactive fun with nationally touring comedy magician Alyx Hilshey! Alyx has wowed audiences at events including TED Conferences and alongside Penn & Teller. This award-winning show has entertained crowds from Vancouver to England and beyond\, bringing big laughs\, incredible magic\, and plenty of audience surprises. It’s the perfect performance for the whole family! \n7 PM – Thistle Tulla Carson “The Jazz Singer” featuring Andy TompkinsSettle in for an evening of soulful\, timeless jazz as Thistle Tulla Carson’s versatile voice moves from powerful to sweet to sultry\, accompanied by talented jazz guitarist Andy Tompkins. CD sales will benefit sober active recovery programs in the Adirondacks. \nThe On the Lawn Concert Series is a great way to enjoy live arts\, connect with neighbors\, and experience the best of our community without breaking the bank. Come visit with old friends\, make new ones\, and enjoy the magic of a summer evening together. \nConcerts are held outdoors in our courtyard\, weather permitting. Special performances for kids start at 6pm followed by bands for grown-ups at 7pm.  \nTuesday\, July 76 PM – The StorycraftersWe welcome the multiple award-winning duo The Storycrafters — Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns\, PhD. Since 1991\, they have shared their unique blend of storytelling\, music\, and cultural traditions with audiences across the U.S.\, Caribbean\, and British Isles. Their energetic performances bring traditional tales\, fairy tales\, original stories\, songs\, and plenty of fun to life for all ages. \n7 PM – Meadowmount School of MusicEnjoy a special performance by talented students from Meadowmount School of Music\, bringing world-class classical music to the Social Center. This part of the concert will be held indoors in our air-conditioned space. \nOur concerts are held in the Social Center courtyard\, weather permitting. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for a wonderful summer evening.
