The Woodswoman Project
January 31, 2015 @ 5:30 pm
On January 31st the RICOCHET DUO — Jane Boxall, marimba and Rose Chancler, piano — will perform a very special multimedia concert at The Hand House in Elizabethtown, NY honoring the late Adirondack conservationist and Woodswoman author ANNE LABASTILLE. The concert will begin Saturday at 7:00pm and will include works for piano and marimba written for the occasion by Adirondack composer Hilary Tann and Minneapolis-based Doug Opel. Additionally, there will be stunning photography from world-class photographers Carl Hielman II, Mark Bowie, Shaun Heffernan paired with specific program works, and also a slide show of original pictures directly from the Anne LaBastille estate. (There will be a repeat of this concert on February 1st at 3:00 pm.)
In addition, at 5:30 on Saturday Jan. 31st only, there will be a very special pre-concert presentation on Anne LaBastille’s remarkable life by her friend and executrix Leslie Surprenant. This lecture will also include pictures and memorabilia from LaBastille’s estate.
This concert will honor Anne LaBastille’s tireless work as an international environmentalist, author, and icon for woman in an all-encompassing way, using music, sounds, image, and light to celebrate the natural world she worked so diligently to protect. Repertoire for the concert was chosen to celebrate and focus on four tenets of LaBastille’s work: water, woods, birds, and silence.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for those 15-and-under. Reservations are highly encouraged for these shows. Call 518.962.2949 for reservations or if you have any questions.
