Wadhams Library Event: Mural Making as Community Building

February 5, 2014 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Upcoming event in Wadhams at the Library: Mural Making as Community Building
With Susan Shanley, Linda Smyth, Steven Engelhart and Lemon Healy
Wednesday FEBRUARY 5th at 7:30 pm

In March 2013, twelve volunteers from all over the United States–including four from the Adirondacks– traveled to Chimo, Mexico, a small fishing village on the Pacific coast, to create a series of colorful outdoor murals celebrating the rich and diverse marine life of the region. Led by muralists Susan Shanley from Saratoga Springs and Linda Smyth from Port Henry, the group collaborated with 80 children of all ages to design and paint the murals. This program will explore this project in some detail and will also discuss how mural making can be a community building, and community transforming activity.

As with all the Wednesday in Wadhams Lectures, this is free and open to the public. For more information call 962-8717 or visit www.wadhamsfreelibrary.org.
