Spring Homeschool Day
June 4, 2021 @ 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
Fort Ticonderoga will host Homeschool Day for students and their parents on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 9:30 am-5:00 pm. Attendees will participate in interactive and immersive programs which bring to life Ticonderoga’s epic history. Visit museum exhibitions, and explore the 2000-acre historic site, including the King’s Garden and the Carillon Battlefield Hiking Trail. Other special opportunities include 75-minute narrated boat cruises on Lake Champlain.
New this year – attendees will have the opportunity to join one of our expert historians on a 1 ¾ mile guided hike around the Carillon Battlefield to explore the vistas and earthen remains of French & Indian War and Revolutionary War battles.
Discover the beauty of the historic King’s Garden and create your own special memories by rolling up your sleeves to help soldiers tend the vegetables and flowers. Programs take place in the maritime trades shops and the garden at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. A noon-time program will illustrate the process of feeding the troops as the mid-day meal is prepared. Complete the visit with a trip to the heights of Mount Defiance for a 4 pm guided tour to learn about its pivotal role during the French and Indian War.
Embark on a 75-minute narrated boat cruise aboard the tour boat Carillon, special for homeschool families at 10:30 am. An additional ticket for the boat tour is required and can be purchased on the day of the visit.
