They have just received American visas while studying in Montreal, and are coming on very short notice for the weekend. Host families for the weekend are John & Katharine, Colleen & Jim Van Hoven, Carole Slatkin, and Bobbi & Dick Perez.

A second, more formal Friday-Sunday visit is being planned for March or April, to include more of the Fellows, and public presentation(s). Your ideas for venue and content are solicited. Bring your ideas to the Pot Luck, or let me know by email.

The Middle East International Community Action Network [ICAN]* and McGill ICAN Masters in Social Work Program in Civil Society and Peace Building were founded and taught by Prof. Jim Torczyner, from Willsboro, NY, and Montreal. His MSW approach is anchored in Rights Based Community Practice, serving all disenfranchised or displaced people, through partnerships and in open vulnerable street-front community action centers and mobile vehicles. Fellows are recruited, through ICAN’s community action centers and partnering universities in Israel, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank, Jordan, and Syrian refugee camps, to train at McGill for higher leadership positions, in their evolving shared societies in the Middle East.
