Enjoy music inspired by Lord Byron, William Blake, Alfred de Musset and Shakespeare in a program of works for viola and piano from Baroque to present day.

Violist Patricia McCarty will present a program spanning styles from Baroque to avant-garde, several inspired by literature and art, including the romantic Joachim Hebrew Melodies (Lord Byron’s poems of this name), impressionist Rebecca Clarke Sonata (Alfred de Musset Nuit de Mai), dramatic John Hawkins Urizen (William Blake’s drawings and poem), beloved Prokofiev Romeo & Juliet, and a new work by Burlington, VT, composer Matthew Browne entitled Exit, Pursued by a Bear (The Winter’s Tale). Rounding out the program will be Locatelli’s Sonata in G Minor and American composer Tibor Serly’s Rhapsody on Folk Songs harmonized by Bartok.

Piano by Nature will present these two shows at the Historic Hand House in Elizabethtown, NY on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 8th, at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $15 per adult, with $5 tickets for all students 15-and-under. Family rates may be requested for larger groups. Please call 518-962-2949 with any questions and/or visit www.pianobynature.org.
