October 6, 2015 @ 7:30 pm
This year the Whallonsburg Grange’s fall Lyceum series theme is: “A History of the World in Six Objects.” The presenters will choose and discuss six objects that demonstrate the history, evolution, and significance of the common things around us. The lectures will occur on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. throughout the months of September and October.
The series opens on Sept. 29 with local historian and UVM lecturer Andy Buchanan presenting “Six Guns.” The series will continue on Oct. 6 with award-winning Essex journalist Gretel Schueller on “Six Foods”; Oct. 13 with art restorationist Emily Gardner Phillips on “Six Paintings”; and Oct. 20 with architects Beverly Eichenlaub and Bryan Burke on “Six Buildings.” The series concludes Oct. 27 with Barry Goldstein, visiting professor at Williams College, presenting “Six Photographs.”
Admission for each lecture is $5, and free for students.
