Grange Lyceum: Why Peace is Achievable in the Middle East

May 5, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

| $1010

Personal accounts from the McGill University International Community Action Network (ICAN) Fellows, students from Palestine, Israel, Jordan and Syria. They will present their own stories and talk about the experience of joining together as a group despite the fact that they come from opposing sides in the Middle East conflict.

The ICAN Fellows program trains a select group of candidates in social work and rights-based community building, so that they can return to lead their home communities through issues of equality, inclusion, and universal rights of all people. Come to the Whallonsburg Grange and hear firsthand from those who understand the horrors and frustration of war and conflict and have chosen to actively engage in working to find non-violent solutions, community by community, training university volunteers and community neighbors. Open to the public, donations accepted.

(Read more about this program from this recent Montreal Gazette article, “McGill’s ICAN program bridges social divides between Middle Eastern students.”)
