Documentary Film: JOSIAH

May 20 @ 6:30 pm

Sunday, May 20, 6:30 pm
Documentary Film: JOSIAH
Essex Community Church (upstairs)
Free admission

The documentary JOSIAH introduces the world to Josiah Henson, an enslaved man who overcame incredible odds and escaped from the US to Ontario in 1830. He became a gifted Methodist minister while still enslaved, and once he was free he preached the gospel in the US, the UK, and Canada well into his eighties. His life inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 1852 novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, yet his real-life story has been largely forgotten by history. Come discover this unsung hero.

In addition to the film, author and director Jared A. Brock has written a definitive biography of Josiah Henson, The Road to Dawn, to be published by Hachette on May 15, 2018.
