Coot Hill Bird Walk and Hawk Watch

April 18, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

In the spring many species of raptors migrate north up our Champlain Valley, and many fly along the ridges just west of the lake, using the thermals of rising warm air to get lift. Coot Hill provides an open rocky overlook with fabulous views of Big Hollow, the Champlain Valley, and hopefully Osprey, Red-tailed hawks, Northern Harriers, Kestrels and more.

On April 18th, 2015 join a Bird Walk and Hawk Watch on Coot Hill led by Ticonderoga Naturalists Glen and Malinda Chapman.

Children are encouraged and welcome but need to be closely supervised for their safety at the overlook. Bring binoculars, clothing appropriate for the weather, and a snack or picnic lunch.

Meet at the Cats trail head (Coot Hill Trail) at the cemetery at end of Lang Rd, Town of Moriah, NY (if the road is not too muddy) and we will walk slowly out to the overlook, 1/2 mile moderate hike.

Find locations of all CATS trails here.

Note: Class size is limited, so early registration at is highly recommended. Register here.
