DESCRIPTION:Come and join in the fun of Contradance with regional favorites\, Adirondack Two-Step and Caller\, Jeremy Clifford!  You’ll be enjoying a fun night of community\, friendship\, laughs\, and music – all while helping the Jay Entertainment & Music Society (JEMS) fund needed theater repairs!   \nPlease note we are NOT at the Amos & Julia Ward Theater for this event\, but at the lovely and spacious Jay Community Center.  We hope to be up and running at the theater in May.   \nSuggested donation: $10\, or whatever-sized donation you can make to help our theater re-open. DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed roots music artist William Lee Ellis is a fingerpicking guitarist and songwriter who has been hailed a “wizard on steel strings” (Blues Revue) and “one of our finest contemporary songwriters” (Living Blues).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHis latest album\, the Yellow Dog release Ghost Hymns\, was a Blues Music Awards nominee for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year and proclaimed one of 2023’s best records by DownBeat\,Blues Music magazine\, and others. The son of banjo/fiddle composer Tony Ellis\, William holds a PhD in ethnomusicology\, has played Mountain Stage\, MerleFest\, and the Kennedy Center among many venues\, and is a guitar-instructing alum of Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch and Augusta Blues Week. \nWilliam Lee Ellis will join us for a three week residency at The Mill: Thursday April 9th\, April 16th and April 23rd.
